Welcome to the Spring 2023 Season!
Thank you for choosing AYSO 1315 for your 'family's soccer experience'!
We call it a 'family soccer experience' because that is what we are trying to build within our organization! One huge soccer family consisting of players, coaches, referees, volunteers, parents, extended family members and friends. We hope you feel a part of it and that you'll want to help us build our family too!
Core Philosophies:
AYSO is based on 6 core philosophies and hopefully you’re familiar with them. Link to view
Everyone Plays, Balanced Teams, Open Registration, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship & Player Development. Plus, Volunteer Power.
Good Sportsmanship is one that is close to my heart. We strive to create a positive environment based on mutual respect instead of a win-at-all costs attitude. This doesn’t mean that we are not competitive - but it does mean that we expect everyone to respect each other. Disrespect is not tolerated.
Each of you signed our Kids Zone Pledge Link
Kids are #1
Fun NOT winning is everything
Players play, coaches coach, referees ref and fans cheer
Respect the referee volunteers - we couldn’t do it without them. Yelling at referees is not allowed.
No yelling, swearing or abusive behavior
No weapons, alcohol, drugs, tobacco, smoking or vaping near the playing fields - please be aware and courteous to those around you.
No pets are permitted on the grass that is level with the playing field.
Leave no trash behind - this field is on the edge of the desert and the desert is home to many wild animals. Please clean up after yourself to help prevent them from coming to the field.
Celebrate the player - win or lose
Volunteers:
Another AYSO philosophy is that ‘AYSO runs on Volunteer power’. Our league is operated by 100% volunteers. None of the people that organize, coach, referee or help out with this region are paid or receive discounted registration. This includes myself - We do try to reward our volunteers when possible.
We are still looking for more volunteers. At least one parent or relative will need to volunteer in some capacity. We have a variety of ways you can volunteer - from being on the board, coaching, team parent - creating the snack sign up, refereeing, helping set up the fields, helping with our 2-3 events we have each season, or even as small as bringing snacks to one game this season. The point is that we need everyone to help in a small way to benefit our kids in this program.
We are still in need of a few Assistant Coaches and we are also looking for a U8 division coordinator who would help with getting communication to coaches in the specific division, help with award and uniform distribution.
I hope you’ll take some time to think about how you can help and reach out to me or another board member.
Parent's Responsibility:
Bring your child, with equipment and water, to all practices and games. If your child is unable to attend, you will let the coach know ASAP so s/he can plan accordingly.
Every parent will pick up their child from the coach at the end of the game/practice. AYSO volunteers are responsible for the children in their care until released to a parent or relative. Please come to the field to pick up your child.
Equipment and training:
Children U8 or older need to have cleats. Playground can wear tennis shoes and U6 can wear tennis shoes, but we encourage cleats. Every child will need shin guards and a ball. Playground, U6, U8: Size 3 ball; U10 & U12: Size 4 ball: U14: Size 5 ball Big 5 offers us a 20% coupon which can be found on the bottom of this page: Link
For the Playground - no practice, game, no score, parents involved, Saturday at Paiute Park. Each child will receive an award for participating in the season.
U6 and U8 divisions one - one hour practice at Mountains Edge on Mon, Tue or Thur - up to the coach. Games on Saturday at Paiute start at 8:30 and go every hour until about 12:30. We do not keep score - this is to help focus the players on having fun and increasing their skills without having the negativity of losing. Each child will receive an award for participating in the season.
For U10, U12 - two one hour practices at Mountain’s Edge M, T, Th, games are friday night at 6, 7 or 8 at Mountain’s Edge
U14 will have 2 1-1 ½ hour practice at Mountains Edge. Games at 8 or 9 at Nathaniel Jones Park. We do keep score and we will award the 1st place team in each division with a trophy. Every child will also receive an award for participating.
All practices will be held at Mountain’s Edge Community Park. Practice days are up to the coaches and the options are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
Commissioner’s Cup Invitational:
For the U10 and U12 divisions we hold The Commissioner’s Cup Invitational at the end of the season. In order for your team to be invited to this Invitational your team will need to accrue 16 referee points. We ask that ej ach U10 and U12 team provide 2-3 referees per team. We provide all training for this position and we hope you will consider it - a referee has the best seat at the game. Points are accrued for the center referee position in U8, U10 and U12 games and for the assistant referee position in U10 and U12 games. If we do not have at least a center referee for each U10 and U12 game - the game will be considered a scrimmage and no division points will be awarded for that game. My husband, Matt is the Referee Admin and would love to talk to you about refereeing - email him at [email protected]
