AYSO Region 1315 Referee Points System
AYSO Region 1315 uses a Referee Points System (RPS),
designed to encourage more people to participate in our region as a volunteer referee. One of the primary goals of
the system is to motivate parents and players both to get involved early and increase their experience and
certification level as they age and progress through the AYSO program.
Referee Points are required to determine a team's eligibility to
participate in the Commissioner’s Cup Invitational held at the end of the season and are required for 8U, 10U, 12U,
and 16U. Playground and 6U teams are not required to earn Referee Points.
How It Works
Volunteering
Referee Points are earned by volunteering to be either a Referee,
Assistant Referee, or Substitution Official in eligible games. The available referee positions for games at each age
level are listed below. Note that you are not required to referee games at the same division your child plays. Your
Regional Referee Administrator will work with you to make sure you are volunteering at the correct position(s).
For information on signing up as a referee and the training required,
please visit the Volunteering as a Referee page.

receive Referee Points. Club Linesmen (uncertified volunteers) are not eligible to earn Referee Points.
Required Points
The amount of Referee Points required for each division varies based on
the estimated availability of family members and/or players that can volunteer. For example, at the 16U level
the players themselves are able (and encouraged) to become Youth Referees.
At least half of a team's total required points must be earned by a family member of a player or coach on the team. The other half can be donated by any referee that's registered in our region.
Please note that each division listed below has a total number of points required.

Allocating Points
At least half of a team's Referee Points can be earned by a family member of any Head Coach,
Assistant Coach, or player, as well as the Head Coach, Assistant Coach, and players themselves (12 years of age and
older). Volunteers must be signed up as a volunteer referee and have their referee training completed by the date of our final referee training course (September 24, 2025).
Referees can split their points between as many teams as they want, but at least half of a team's points must be earned by a family member (see table above). Surplus referee points can be donated to as many teams as you'd like, but ultimately each team is responsible for meeting their Referee Point obligations.
Reporting Referee Points
Referee points are awarded automatically to those who sign up on Stack Officials and fulfill their referee
responsibilities. An individual's referee points will be allocated to the teams they have a familial relation to unless
otherwise conveyed to the Regional Referee Administrator at
[email protected].
